Austin Children's Museum Field Trip - Air Fair

First Grade students visited the Austin Children's Museum for the Air Fair exhibit.  Students learned about the force air exerts on objects, and the ways in which air can move objects, as well as how sound waves travel in the air.  The students had many opportunities to interact with the exhibits and reinforce their study of air, wind, and how kites fly.

Experimenting with Wind and Simple Paper Plate Kites:

In order to experiment with wind, force, and motion for kite flying, students made simple paper plate kites.  Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate.  We checked the forecast online after our kite flying attempts and found the wind speed to be 0.0, with gusts of 3.1.  We will repeat the experiment on a more windy day.
